True freshman WR Ryan Wingo escapes Quinn Ewers’ shadow as the Longhorns’ new superstar raises the alarm

Yes, Quinn Ewers is arguably one of the best quarterbacks this season, but don’t let that distract you from the one and only true freshman. The Longhorns have been on the rise this year and it looks like they will easily make the playoffs. With Quinn Ewers at the helm, nothing can go wrong. While it’s true that fans were a little stressed when Ewers was injured and sidelined, when the team takes the field for the Red River Rivalry, Ewers is back. But someone who is back with a bigger bang is it Ryan Wingo.

Max Olson went to X to share some interesting stats about Longhorns WR Ryan Wingo. “Texas true freshman WR Ryan Wingo is now averaging 28.8 yards per touch this season.” Olson mentioned in his post. Wingo is the only rookie WR on the Longhorns roster and has nailed everything with his plays. Hailed as #38 in the entire country by On3 industry rankingsWingo does Steve Sarkisian proud and is the new superstar you should keep an eye on.

You have to remember that this guy was surrounded by veterans when he arrived. Isaiah Bond And Matthew Golden were already on the squad, so Wingo had to compete extra hard to make a name for himself.

And he did. After being put on the field against the UTSA game, Wingo managed to rush for 127 yards and score a touchdown on three catches. “I just can’t take anything for granted.” Wingo noted this during the postgame interview following UTSA’s 56-7 win. He then made a huge play against Michigan.

He took the football from Ewers and managed to turn it into a 55-yard gain for the Longhorns. And now, with a fumble during the legendary Red River Rivalry, it’s certain that Wingo will stand out as the lone wolf full of promise and talent among a team of veteran stars. However, he is not the only one.

Manning fever

When Ewers was sidelined with injury during the Roadrunners disaster, Arch Manning was sent to take over. Boy, oh boy, did he turn a few heads? Immediately after hitting the turf, Manning started his career with a strong touchdown. He scored a total of 4 touchdowns and completed 9-12 passes. Rivals pointed out the perfect thing after the Roadrunners game was over.

“Even without Quinn Ewers, Texas can still win a national championship.” Rivals had taken notice. It still applies. By the time Ewers returned, Manning was at the helm and he did NOT disappoint. You can call this the magic of Steve Sarkisian’s “go big or go bust” squad. Longhorns fans are still divided on whether they want to see Ewers on the field or whether they want Manning back, and we don’t blame them for being in this dilemma.

With back-to-back strong players like Wingo and Manning, it’s no wonder the Longhorns are on track to secure a playoff spot and probably even win the national championship.
