Wingo, a product of St. Louis (Mo.) University High, has 11 receptions for 247 yards and two touchdowns this season. He also had a 55-yard rush against Michigan.

Here’s what Power had to say about Wingo.

WR Ryan Wingo, Texas – The 2024 season featured a truly historic group of true freshman wide receiver talent, making the third pick at the position particularly difficult. Ryan Wingo would be a safe addition in a normal season. The same goes for Michigan State Nick MarshClemson’s Bryant Wesco and Auburn’s Malcolm Simmons And Cam Coleman. With that in mind, Wingo gets the credit for making the most of his opportunities, scoring 11 of his 13 for 247 yards and two touchdowns for the No. 1 Longhorns. While Wingo’s combination of elite speed and size (6-foot-1, 220 pounds) was well-known, he has also proven to be a highly reliable target for Texas quarterbacks, as he is the only top first-year wide receiver to do so has not yet had a drop on the season. Wingo, a St. Louis native, ranked 38th overall in the On3 Industry Rankings.

Simmons, a Duncanville (Texas) product, has 18 total tackles with 6.0 TFL and 4.0 sacks, as well as a forced fumble.

Here was what Power had to say about Simmons.

EDGE Colin Simmons, TexasColin Simmons is very much in the running for the title of top freshman defenseman at this point in the season. The former Five-Star Plus+ prospect is already the Longhorns’ top No. 1 pass rusher. Simmons had four sacks and six tackles for loss. Even when he doesn’t finish his plays in the backfield, Simmons has a big impact on the quarterback. The Duncanville (Texas) High product easily leads all true freshmen in rushing (9), according to PFF. Highlights of his season included big games against Michigan and Mississippi State. The 6-foot-1, 220-pound player has demonstrated elite first-step quickness and an impressive amount of pass-rush moves. Given his success so far, it’s very likely that Simmons will continue to hit the ground running as Texas has several big games coming up. Simmons was a five-star Plus+ prospect and ranked 15th overall in the On3 industry rankings.

Simmons and Wingo were part of a 2024 recruiting class that was ranked No. 6 in the On3 recruiting rankings.
