NEW DELHI: India, the ruler T20 World Cup Champions, reached new milestones with their batting performance on a record day. India opted to bat first and posted an impressive performance of 297/6 against Bangladesh at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
This score marks India’s highest team total in T20Is and represents the second highest score in men’s T20I history, surpassing previous records set by Afghanistan (278/3), England (267/3) and Australia (263/3).
India’s previous highest score in men’s T20Is was 260/5 against Sri Lanka in 2017. In that match, Rohit Sharma also scored the remarkable 35-ball century, the fastest Indian player in T20Is.
Nepal posted their highest ever total in men’s T20Is at the Asian Games in Hangzhou last year with 314/3 against Mongolia.
Sanju Samson was the standout performer with a remarkable 111 off 47 balls, marking his maiden T20I century in just 40 balls. This achievement makes him the second fastest Indian batsman to score a T20I century, only behind Rohit Sharma.
