Fans prepare for a new chapter in the Red River rivalry as the former prepare to face the Longhorns

With kickoff just 14 hours away, anticipation is building for the latest edition of the Red River rivalry between the University of Oklahoma Sooners and the University of Texas Longhorns in the Cotton Bowl. As fans travel to Dallas for the highly anticipated matchup, the game takes on greater significance as both teams now face off in the Southeastern Conference (SEC).

Although this is the first Red River Rivalry, the game will still be full of crazy upsets, turnovers, sloppy plays and heroics. The only difference will be a completely different region. The country will realize how special the rivalry is between two Red River schools that hate each other.

“There is nothing like it because you see a wave of orange and purple. Here you see a page that cheers us on. You see another side throwing down their horns and booing. It’s just crazy. “Fire up as soon as you roll them in the bus,” Texas Longhorns linebacker David Gbenda said.

In a departure from tradition, this year the game will kick off at 2:30 p.m., a departure from the usual 11 a.m. start time. Fans are in the thick of the Texas State Fair festivities, creating a lively game day atmosphere.

In the spirit of camaraderie, the annual Red River Sing-Off Competition was held at the Galleria in Dallas, with performances by the OU Men’s Glee Club and the Longhorn Singers. This friendly tradition showcases the talent and spirit of both universities before the big game.

Coverage will continue leading up to the game, with updates from the Texas State Fair afterward that will hopefully bring good news for Sooners fans.
