The embattled Dr. Oumair Aejaz, of Rochester Hills, who is behind bars, was just charged with another 17 felonies – this time for allegedly videotaping himself molesting a 6-year-old who authorities say was one of many victims of a A more comprehensive and “terrible” case is sexual abuse.

The new charges, announced Thursday, come two months after Aejaz was arrested on charges that he secretly enrolled five adults and children at a Goldfish swim school in Rochester. Authorities allege he also used hidden cameras to film women and children in spaces such as hospital rooms and bedrooms, and allegedly filmed himself sexually abusing unconscious hospital patients.

Aejaz is currently in jail on a $2 million bond. His lawyer, Mariell Lehman, declined to comment late Thursday.

According to Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald, it was the doctor’s wife who alerted investigators to her husband’s alleged misconduct when she produced materials that raised concerns among authorities. The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office quickly obtained a search warrant and used it to seize the doctor’s electronic devices, which McDonald said previously contained “really shocking, alarming images.”

Investigators have spent the last two months identifying possible victims as they believe there could potentially be hundreds of victims.

The latest charges are related to an alleged series of assaults on a six-year-old child in Novi that spanned six different dates in 2023 and 2024. The public prosecutor accuses Aejaz of sexually touching the child and filming himself. The indictment includes two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, which are the most serious in this case and carry a maximum sentence of life in prison and a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years in prison if convicted. Aejaz is also charged with three counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, three counts of aggravated child sexual abuse, three counts of taking an image of a naked person and six counts of using a computer to commit a felony.

“We know there are additional victims and we ask anyone with information to contact the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office at [email protected],” Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald said in a statement Thursday Explanation.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, Aejaz worked at Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc Township and Henry Ford Hospital Macomb in Clinton Township. He had privileges at those hospitals but was not on staff, the office said.

Federal authorities: Holly man ‘lurking in the shadows’ in child sexual exploitation case

“This individual may be one of the worst I have ever seen because there is no specific category,” Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said previously. “It’s not just children. It’s not just women. It’s not just men. It goes from a two year old to a grown woman. And so the victimization is so complete and the perversion so great that we are just beginning to wrap our arms around it.

According to Bouchard, investigators confiscated six computers, four cell phones and 15 external hard drives – one of which contained 13,000 videos. He said it could take up to six months to review all the material and the suspected criminal activity dates back at least six years.

Aejaz, an Indian citizen, has been working in the United States on a visa since he came here around 2011, Bouchard said. He completed his residency at DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital and also spent time in Alabama.

“Due to the length of time he has been involved in this activity and the large amounts of inventory we have, we believe there is obviously much more to be discovered,” Bouchard previously said.
