Donald Trump’s record The hypocrisy and cruelty now seems to extend to his Bible, “God Bless the USA.” A new report from the Associated Press reveals that nearly 120,000 copies of the former president’s $60 Bibles are being printed in China, the country he railed against for most of his political career.

According to the AP, these copies were sent out in February and March, likely netting Trump a profit of $7 million.

As we have written before, these Bibles are not just your average publications of a sacred text. These include a handwritten chorus of Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA” and a special coinage “commemorating the day God intervened during the assassination attempt of President Donald J. Trump,” available in special edition copies.

All of this made the possible decision to require Trump’s Bible in Oklahoma schools deeply troubling. As I wrote last week:

On Friday, nonprofit news outlet Oklahoma Watch reported that the superintendent’s bid documents included specific standards for the Bibles to be used in Oklahoma classrooms, standards only two editions met.

According to the documents, the books must:

  • Be bound in leather or a leather-like material
  • These include the Pledge of Allegiance, the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights
  • Be either the old or new version of the King James Bible

The supplier, Mardel Christian & Education, reportedly looked through the 2,900 Bible versions it contains and found that none of them met the requirements – except Trump’s “God Bless the USA Bible” does.

Trump’s Bible, of course, is just one of many strange business ventures he’s launched this election cycle alone, including $400 gold sneakers.
