  • Royal Caribbean International will open a second private island destination called Perfect Day Mexico.
  • The new destination will be located in Mahahual on the Caribbean coast and is scheduled to open in 2027.
  • Perfect Day Mexico will feature a water park, beaches, pools, restaurants and bars.

For Royal Caribbean International guests, a “perfect day” is no longer limited to CocoCay.

The cruise line opens Perfect Day Mexico, marking the second of its Perfect Day Collection. The company also has a private island in the Bahamas, Perfect Day at CocoCay, which Kara Wallace, Royal Caribbean International’s chief marketing officer, said is “the highest-rated destination” among the more than 250 ports its cruises call at.

“So it’s something that our guests are looking for and looking for,” she told USA TODAY in an interview. “And we were looking for the next perfect destination for a new Perfect Day, and we found it in Mexico.”

Where will Perfect Day Mexico be?

The destination will be in Mahahual on the Caribbean coast.

“We are very pleased that Royal Caribbean has decided to invest in Mahahual, a country full of opportunities and hard-working people,” said Mara Lezama, governor of the state of Quintana Roo, in a press release. “As part of the Welfare and Development Agreement and the new era of tourism, my administration looks forward to working very closely with the company to ensure a sustainable destination that brings shared prosperity to the region and involves our local communities.” this historic investment.”

When does Perfect Day Mexico open?

The destination will open in 2027, with a specific date yet to be announced.

Wallace said the itineraries are still in the planning stages, but noted that the cruise line sees Perfect Day Mexico as a “hero port” for Western Caribbean cruises. These include crossings “from Galveston… from the Gulf and also throughout Florida.”

What awaits the guests?

Perfect Day is “known for thrill and relaxation and that perfect combination,” Wallace said. Guests visiting the new Mexico location will find this in the form of a water park, beaches and pools for relaxation, and restaurants and bars.

Wallace said the line will share more about these amenities and attractions in the coming months, likely in the spring.

The destination will also follow the launch of the Royal Beach Club Collection, beginning with Royal Beach Club Paradise Island in the Bahamas in 2025. Royal Beach Club Cozumel will follow in 2026.

Whether on land or on his ships, Wallace said the line offers something for every traveler. “And we want to create experiences where no one has to compromise,” she said.

Wallace added that the nickname “Perfect Day” originally served as a codename for the project. But when they developed it, nothing else could match their ambitions for the guest experience – both at this destination and more broadly.

“This means that we are always looking for the perfect day.”
