Building bonds with your followers in Metaphor: ReFantazio is incredibly important as you unlock special abilities and new archetypes for your party to use. Most of these are relatively easy to develop once you’ve developed a bond, but improving your relationship with Neuras, your engineer, requires a little more effort. To progress with him, you need to find relics, which can be found in various side dungeons throughout the game. While the in-game quest only gives you hints about their locations, we can tell you exactly where to find them. After you get a relic, you still need to give it to Neruas to advance to the next follower level.

The sections are named after the locations where the relics are located and are ordered by when they are available to you.

Since these quests become available based on main story progression, There are some mild spoilersbut no major plot points are discussed.

Komoro

To build your bond with Neruas, you must complete the first quest, “Providing a Spark,” which asks you to retrieve a relic and a notebook from the city of Komoro. This quest can be completed once you are given a main deadline for completion in Martira. Simply go into the city and select the conversation option from the menu that appears – it’s not a city you can actually explore – and you’ll get the required items. Give it to Neuras to complete the quest and establish him as your follower.

Grotto of the Man-Eater

The Man-Eater’s Grotto is another location that becomes available during your time in Martira. The Man-Eater in the Mine bounty becomes available in the Recruitment Center after you complete your second main deadline in Martira. The relic can be found in an early section of the dungeon. When you first enter you will arrive in a square room as shown on the map below.

From there, go to the area highlighted in red, which will take you up one floor. There will be a small area that appears to be blocked by walls, but on one side there is a small crawlspace through which you can reach the chest with the relic.

Tomb of Lamentation

You can access the Tomb of Lamentation by accepting the Mourning Spirit of the Chalice bounty at any Recruitment Center once the main deadline is announced to you in Port Brilehaven. Travel to the Tomb of Lamentation, where you can find the relic in an early section of the dungeon.

Shortly after entering the dungeon, you will be directed to the lower floor, where the relic is in a chest to the right behind the cell bars. To reach this area, you need to go to a separate hallway via a small passage in the exit hallway and then enter the cell via a second passage.

Rogue Fortress

Rogue Stronghold is from the Greater One-Eyed Rogue bounty. Even though the bounty is outside of Grand Trad, it becomes available once you reach your main deadline on Virga Island and can be accepted at any recruitment center.

Shortly before the dungeon the path splits into a left and a right. Go right, but instead of following the path, go to the wall where you will find a hidden passage. The relic is in a chest in this area.

Country of ceremony

Land of Ceremony can be accessed via a side quest called “The Trial of Malnova” once you are given a second main deadline on the island of Virga. This request comes from Eupha, who can be found on the island of Virga. Accept the quest and you will be allowed to travel to the Land of Ceremonies.

This relic is located in a side area on the ground floor, on the far left of the dungeon. You must enter this area via a ramp on the upper floor. The ramps shown on the map overlap from floor to floor, so the Ramp Inquisition can be found in the same section of the dungeon, just one floor higher.

Everfrost Forest

You can access Everfrost Forest by accepting the bounty “The Fiend in the Frozen Forest” once you are notified of the main deadline at a recruitment center in Altabury Heights. Since this dungeon is just a large, winding forest, reaching the relic is relatively easy.

The relic is located in a chest in the middle area of ​​the right half of the map.

Mount Vulkano

Mount Vulkano can be accessed by accepting the quest “The Edge of Glory” from a man in Sunshade Row in Grand Trad, after returning there and receiving a new main quest. Once you reach Mount Vulkano, you’ll likely find that you have to do a lot of falling into holes and climbing ladders to progress, but the relic is hidden in an area that you need to reach to complete the dungeon.

As shown in the image above, the relic is located on the main floor (the floor where you enter the dungeon). You’ll need to go around two holes in the ground to reach the furthest part of this area. The area to walk around the second hole is pretty small, but you can’t actually fall into these holes. You will only jump down if you press the action button to do so. So just try to go around them to reach the chest at the back.

This is the last relic you need to collect. To fully max out your follower rank in Neuras, you’ll need to complete an additional battle, but Neuras marks it on your map and it’s not a dungeon. It’s also not a particularly hard fight unless your party is underpowered at this point. If you are at least level 60, it shouldn’t be too difficult to win.
