The NBA champion Toronto Raptors reacts to his former teammate’s retirement

The Toronto Raptors won their first NBA championship in franchise history in 2019. Toronto was led by superstar forward Kawhi Leonard as they defeated the Golden State Warriors, ending their three-peat effort to win Finals MVP honors for the second time in his career.

While Leonard undoubtedly carried the Raptors at times during this playoff run, he also had a great supporting team around him. That included sharpshooter Danny Green, who won his second of three career NBA championships in 2019.

Green also won a championship with the San Antonio Spurs in 2014 with Leonard. Green spent 15 seasons in the league and announced his retirement from the NBA on Thursday.

Several NBA players commented on Green’s post, including Clippers guard and Raptors champion Norman Powell.

Via Powell: “Congratulations bro on a great career. I’m glad we shared the space together. 🏆”

The 2019 Raptors team was special. Powell appeared in 60 games this season, Green played in 80. Along with Leonard on the Clippers, Powell is now one of the best bench players in the NBA.

After his championship with Toronto in 2019, Green won another one with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020. It has been an incredible 15-year career for Green, who has now announced his retirement.

Based on the reactions to Green’s Instagram post, he was clearly a loved and respected teammate throughout his NBA career.
