You did it. They really did it.

On Wednesday, October 9, the powerful New York Mets earned a momentous 4-1 victory over the mighty Philadelphia Phillies at Citi Field.

This victory – thanks largely to Francisco Lindor’s stoic, heroic grand slam and Jose Quintana’s stellar start – was the Amazins’ third in four games, meaning Carlos Mendoza’s doomed team officially triumphed in the Cutthroat Series and advances to the next round.

Yes, for the first time in nine long years the Mets are headed to the NLCS.

They will next face the winner of the Los Angeles Dodgers-San Diego Padres series. The score between the NL West rivals is currently 2-2; Game five will take place on Friday, October 11th at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.

Unfortunately, regardless of the outcome of this game, either the Dodgers or Padres have home field advantage in the NLCS.

Therefore, it is guaranteed that game three, game four and perhaps game five will take place at Citi Field in Flushing.

If you want to be there to cheer on Lindor, Alonso, Vientos, Iglesias, Nimmo and the rest of Grimace’s boys – and maybe even sing along to “OMG”, “My Girl” and “Lazy Mary” – tickets are available for all three home games Mets NLCS.

At the time of publication, the lowest price we could find for seats at one of these high-profile showdowns was $256 before Vivid Seats fees.

While that sounds expensive, you can’t put a price on October baseball. There is nothing like it in sports.

About the New York Mets’ playoff run

The Mets shouldn’t even be competitive this season.

Team owner Steve Cohen wrote off 2024 last August after trading senior co-aces Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer. He told the press: “Basically our vision now is for 2025-2026, 1925 at the earliest, more like 1926. We will do business on that.”

In the offseason, new general manager David Stearns bolstered the rotation with inningsmen Luis Severino and Sean Manaea. He also signed center fielder Jose Iglesias to a minor league contract.

Still, 2024 didn’t start off promisingly; The Mets started the year 0-5.

However, they never gave up. And after Grimace threw out the first pitch on June 12, the team was in tears and refused to look back.

On the final day of the season, they dramatically beat the Atlanta Braves to clinch an NL Wild Card spot ahead of the Arizona Diamondbacks, who magically fought their way to the World Series in 2023.

Once the Mets were in the postseason, the team of destiny caught fire and easily beat the heavily favored Milwaukee Brewers in the Wild Card Series.

This finally brings us to the recently released NLDS. In the first game, manager Carlos Mendoza surprisingly started Kodai Senga, who promptly gave up a home run to leadoff hitter Kyle Schwarber.

All hope was not lost. As they have done all summer, the Mets once again fought hard and delivered a come-from-behind road win. Although they lost the second game – after building an impressive lead – the magical club won in dramatic fashion at home.

Well, as radio announcer Howie Rose said, “California, here they come.”

We can’t wait to see what happens next.
