UFC 308 promo heats up one of the biggest fights of the year

Hot on the heels of last weekend’s events at UFC 307 in Salt Lake City, the official promo for the MMA frontrunner’s next PPV card has arrived.

UFC 308 takes place on October 26th at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi and is headlined by one of the biggest fights of the year.

Featherweight champion Ilia Topuria will look to continue his undefeated winning streak inside the Octagon in his first title defense.

The division’s former champion, one of the greatest featherweights of all time, BMF beltholder Max Holloway, returns to 145 pounds.

The promo begins with arguably the most memorable performance of the year, setting the stage perfectly for this duel.

Holloway moved up to lightweight to challenge Justin Gaethje for the BMF belt at UFC 300, in a fight that fans expected to be an all-out war between two all-action strikers.

What we got instead was a masterstroke from “Blessed,” who, despite being moments away from victory, decided to stand in the middle of the cage with Gaethje and trade, knocking him out.

His next opponent, Topuria, also knows how to close the show with devastating style for his opponents.

The champion’s highlights of the likes of Jai Herbert, Josh Emmett, Bryce Mitchell and of course his title-winning performance against Alexander Volkanovski earlier this year follow Holloway’s incredible night at UFC 300.

Topuria is one of the biggest stars the promotion currently has, with a huge fanbase in Europe and after defeating a champion like Volkanovski, it’s clear he’s the real deal.

Holloway has always been a fan favorite, but his stock couldn’t be higher right now, making this contest a real highlight of 2024 overall.

There’s also time in the promo to mention the evening’s co-main event, which will determine both men’s status in the middleweight division.

Undefeated phenom Khamzat Chimaev has been unable to maintain the momentum he once had for a number of reasons, but if he manages to beat a former champion in Robert Whittaker, it will be clear that he is ready to challenge for the gold medal to fight.

This fight was originally scheduled to take place in Riyadh last June to headline the promotional event, but was rescheduled for this card after Chimaev pulled out due to illness.

It will continue to be played over five rounds as originally planned.
