Phillies, with their backs against the wall, send the Mets a telling message about the series

The Mets were finally back at Citi Field on Tuesday night for the first time since September 22nd, and in front of a rousing crowd, they snatched Game 3 of the NLDS from the Phillies to take a 2-1 series lead.

That means the Mets have a chance to pull out a win at home on Wednesday, while the Phillies will be fighting to stay alive in enemy territory.

But if the Phillies can resume their season after Wednesday, the Mets will return to Philadelphia for Game 5. Phillies slugger Nick Castellanos says that’s not a position New York wants to be in.

“As a group, we are coming closer to death than ever before. So in a way we should be feeling the most alive,” Castellanos said, via NBC Sports Philadelphia. “We’re only promised tomorrow, and this is what we’ve been working towards since spring training, to get this opportunity. It’s just a matter of showing up again and leaving everything on the board, and however the dice land, they will land.

“Instead of just throwing it away and forgetting it, I think it’s really important now to embrace the situation we’re in. If we lose, we go home, baseball is over for us. “This is a great opportunity because if we can get another win here, I know they don’t want to come back to Philly for Game 5.”

As insane as the crowd at Citi Field was on Tuesday night, Philadelphia fans bring that energy to Citizen’s Bank – and they would certainly be at their best if this series goes all the way to Game 5. The Mets, with Jose Quintana on the mound, will try to avoid that with a win on Wednesday in front of a big home crowd.
