There were some good signs along the way heat preseason loss to Charlotte on Tuesday, writes Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

Jimmy Butler played his first preseason game in two years and contributed 11 points in more than 15 minutes. Bam Adebayo made two of his five 3-point attempts to expand his offensive game. And Nikola Jovic scored nine points in 16 minutes while starting at the front alongside Adebayo.

“It was good to practice game conditioning” trainer Erik Spoelstra said about the start of the preseason. “It always feels a little different, no matter how many years you have played. Our boys worked extremely hard. But it was nice to face someone else.”

We have more on the heat:

  • Terry Rozier Projects as starting point guard on opening night. He battled a neck injury late last season and into the offseason. “The whole offseason, when I first got injured, I definitely enjoyed the game more than I ever have before.” Rozier said, according to Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald. “That’s why I said everything happens for a reason. I really feel like this happened for a reason that makes me want to focus and focus again. Now I just don’t look back.”
  • According to Chiang, their preseason game against the Hawks on Thursday was postponed due to Hurricane Milton. It has been postponed until October 16th. With Thursday’s contest postponed, the second game of the Heat’s five-game preseason schedule will take place on Sunday against the Pelicans.
  • All current and future seats in their home arena will be dedicated to the team president Pat RileyChiang noted. The Heat’s home court will now be known as “Pat Riley Court at Kaseya Center,” with the new name and Riley’s signature engraved on the court. By joining, Riley will become only the second coach in NBA history to receive such an honor Red Auerbach the Celtics.
  • Zyon Pullin takes part in the camp with a contract in accordance with Appendix 10. The former Florida guard knows he will be heading to the Heat’s G League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce. “It was really just spending time in Sioux Falls and checking out the development program, its history and track record.” Pullin said, according to Winderman. “That’s one reason I wanted to be here in the first place. So I think it’s just a matter of continuing once we get there, evolving and seeing where it goes from there.”
