More and more details seem to be coming to light Spider Man 4 and the direction Sony and Marvel might take the film.

Little details have emerged here and there over the last few weeks, and the latest rumors seem to have split fans down the middle.

Marvel will soon be back on the big screens and one of those films is Ensemble lightning*

A Reddit post has appeared that details some new details, including a return of Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire, symbiotes, and a more cosmic plot.

While some fans would be happy with this direction, others – myself included – were hoping for a more “street level” story.

PhantomWhisey said, “They’ve created the perfect setting for this Spider-Man to get his street level arc…” And her thought was ended by Logiteck77 by saying, “And they’re about to waste it anyway.”

Another Reddit user, Davistobor, says: “I understand Spider-Man is their heaviest hitter, but you don’t need a big multiverse escapade to get people in seats. We’re also just taking the good old, friendly neighborhood with us.”

This seems to be the opinion of many. It would be great to see Marvel tackle the symbiote stories themselves, the company continues to insist that their ideas are as expansive as possible.

KayRay1994 puts it best: “I really hate that everything in Spider-Man now has to be multiversal or one big event.” Holy shit, give me a real solo movie with Peter, his usual supporting cast, and a villain or two .”

The difficulty here, of course, is that two companies are planning the films and Marvel has to work on ideas with Sony.

It’s clear that Sony loves the symbiotes since we’ve had three Venom movies and the fans want it, but it could be possible without multiverse hopping.
