Election Day is November 5th. Now is the time to register to vote in Colorado and make sure you take steps to receive your ballot.

How to register to vote in Colorado

To register online, go to govotecolorado.gov and click “Yes, register online” under the “Register to Vote” heading.

Or you can download a form from the same website that you can fill out and send to your county clerk’s office. (In Larimer County this is 200 W. Oak St., Suite 5100, Fort Collins, CO 80521).

You can also register to vote year-round when you get your Colorado driver’s license at a DMV.

When is the deadline to register to vote in Colorado?

In Colorado, you can register to vote at any time, including Election Day.

How to see if you are already registered to vote

Go to govotecolorado.gov and click “Find My Registration.” Fill out the information. If you are registered, you will find out, for example, your party affiliation, the districts in which you vote, where you can vote in person and what will be on the ballot.

When do ballots come out in Colorado?

Friday, October 11th is the first day ballots can be mailed in Colorado.

However, starting October 4, registered voters can go to any county office and pick up a ballot.

How do I receive my ballot?

Once you have registered to vote, the ballot will be automatically sent to the address you provided. Colorado law allows them to be mailed about three weeks before Election Day.

If you registered within eight days of the election, you will need to go to a voter service center and polling place to pick up your ballot. County clerk websites can help you find one of these centers.

When does early voting start in Colorado?

With its mail-in voting system, Colorado doesn’t really have a specific time period for early voting. You can return your ballot at any time after you receive it at a voting location.

However, once election services and polling stations are open, you will be able to receive a ballot and vote on site before Election Day.

How do I return my ballot?

You may mail in the ballot as long as it arrives at the county clerk’s office by Election Day. If you are concerned that there will not be enough time to send your ballot in the mail, return your ballot in person.
