Tim Walz reveals to Jimmy Kimmel the strange name Kamala Harris is listed as on his phone

Tim Walz has revealed the bizarre name under which Kamala Harris is listed on his phone after he accidentally ignored the vice president’s call when she first asked him to join her on the Democratic Party ballot.

The Minnesota governor traveled to Los Angeles on Monday night for his late-night debut Jimmy Kimmel Live!as the Democratic duo launches a media offensive just weeks before the election.

Dubbed “America’s Sweetheart” governor by host Jimmy Kimmel, the conversation centered on the moment Harris tried to call Walz in early August to ask him to be her vice presidential running mate – a moment that didn’t quite go according to plan.

“In typical first-person fashion, I missed it,” Walz admitted of the call.

Walz was one of the last candidates to undergo extensive questioning and scrutiny by Harris and her team at her official residence in Washington DC on August 5 before the Democratic presidential candidate asked him to become her running mate.

When Harris tried to call Walz to tell him the good news, he didn’t answer – until a representative asked him to answer the call.

“It was an unmarked number, so I think it’s a car warranty thing. I got a call from a senior advisor and said, ‘Pick up your damn phone,'” Walz explained to laughter from the studio audience.

Kimmel teased, “Is she in your contacts now so this doesn’t happen again?”

“She is,” Walz replied, before revealing that she was given a now-not-so-secret nickname.

Kimmel probed what pseudonym she was listed under on Walz’s phone, the Democrat admitted: “My dry cleaner.”

Walz continued, “They told me to come up with something, and that was all I could think of.”

Kimmel joked about what might happen if Walz’s actual cleaning had to reach him, to which Walz chuckled, “I didn’t think that far ahead.”

Walz then gave a behind-the-scenes look at his relationship with Harris.

“We get on really well, she’s great, she makes me laugh. And by the way, I think the president should know how to laugh, not at someone, but at things,” he said.

There was also a fleeting mention in the late-night interview of Walz’s vice presidential debate against GOP rival JD Vance last Tuesday.

Both political pundits and a snap poll of ABC viewers suggested the Ohio senator delivered a more polished and prepared performance on the New York stage.

But there was a moment when Walz delivered a fatal blow when he asked Vance if he believed the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump.

Vance dodged the question, leaving the Democrat to brand it a “not an answer.”

“That should have been the lede, right, 58 minutes ago?” Walz reflected on Monday night.

He continued, “This idea of, ‘Look, we can turn this on its head.'”

To the cheers, he added: “I plan to wake up with Madame President on November 6th.”
