Bulletin board material: Yankees star says Royals ‘lucky’ to win Game 2

The Royals defeated the Yankees on Monday night and even reached their ALDS.

Kansas City scored more runs, had more hits and had one fewer errors, but don’t expect Yankees third baseman Jazz Chisholm to give the surprising Royals any credit.

Chisholm, acquired from the Marlins in a midseason trade, was asked how different the series felt compared to Game 1, which the Yankees won.

His response was nothing short of bulletin board material.

“It still feels the same that we’re going to win, you know? I don’t feel like anyone feels any different, you know? We’re going to go out there and still do our thing,” he said. “We still don’t have the feeling that a team is better than us. Like you said, we had a lot of missed opportunities tonight. So they just got lucky.”

It’s a bold move as the series moves to Kauffman Stadium, which hasn’t hosted a playoff game since the Royals won the World Series in 2015, and Wednesday’s Game 3 is sure to rock.

In addition, the Royals were unlucky. They defeated Yankees starting pitcher Carlos Rodon, who gave up four runs on seven hits in 3 2/3 innings. They also scored three times with runners in scoring position as the Yankees went 1-for-6.

For his part, Chisholm hit a solo home run in the ninth inning.

The Royals will send Seth Lugo to the mound on Wednesday while the Yankees counter with Clarke Schmidt. First pitch is scheduled for 7:08 p.m
