That was the difficult decision faced by passengers on a Qantas flight from Sydney to Tokyo this week. reports Futurism. Shortly after the start of the flight, which normally lasts about nine hours and 50 minutes, the onboard entertainment screens faulty. In this scenario, crews would typically film a family-friendly film that everyone on board could enjoy while they whiled away the hours.

However, that wasn’t the case. Instead, passengers on board were left with no choice but to watch “Daddio,” a 2023 film in which Dakota Johnson and Sean Penn share their deep, dark secrets, including stories of an affair with a married man, past relationships and their sex life. As Futurism reports:

Of course, the internet had a field day with one screening or another. One passenger on Reddit described the film as “40 minutes of penises and boobs” and noted the “audible gasps throughout the plane.”

Worse, even without sound, the film proved incredibly inappropriate.

“It featured graphic nudity and a lot of sexting – the kind where you could literally read the text on the screen without needing headphones,” one Reddit user noted.

“How is this acceptable for a major airline?” they added.

Obviously, this isn’t the kind of movie everyone wants to watch onboard a 10-hour flight. As a result, Qantas immediately apologized for the error, saying it was “clearly not suitable for everyone on board the aircraft”. reports the Guardian.

The Entertainment system malfunction meant that passengers couldn’t even turn off the film themselves and had to wait for the crew to replace it with something more PG-like. As the Guardian adds:

“The film was clearly not suitable for viewing throughout the flight and we sincerely apologize to customers for this experience,” a Qantas spokesperson said.

“For the remainder of the flight, all screens were switched to a family-friendly film, which is our standard practice for the rare occasions when individual film selection is not possible.

“We are checking how the film was selected.”

It definitely wouldn’t be “Daddio.” My first airplane filmbut it shouldn’t be my last either. I’d probably prefer it to something truly terrible like Homes & Watson, but I’ll be honest more of a “Cool Runnings” guy when it comes to in-flight films.
