What should be a fun and friendly local rivalry is getting uglier on and off the field.

The Los Angeles Dodgers faced the San Padres in Game 2 of the National League Divisional Series on Sunday night.

The Dodgers suffered a crushing 10-2 defeat, but fans say more than one game was lost that night. Fans are already suffering from a bad image and say they can do better.

“It’s so stupid… nobody knows how to behave,” Dodgers fan Crystal Yanez said.

“You shouldn’t throw things on the field, that’s my main concern,” said participant Chris Oliver. “But at the same time the players have to act accordingly.”

Dodger fans also said Padres players taunted them throughout the night.

It started with Padres outfielder Jurickson Profar hitting a narrow Dodger home run in the first inning.

Later in the 7th inning, Profar threw a ball to the crowd as a fun souvenir. Dodgers fans threw it back along with other baseballs, empty water bottles and trash.

The referees stopped play for several minutes to calm fans down before resuming play.

In a postgame interview, Profar said the situation felt “dangerous” and that he had a similar experience with San Francisco Giants fans.

The Padres are limiting ticket sales to Dodgers fans for games three and four at Petco Park.

Online tickets directly from the Padres organization can only be purchased by residents of San Diego, Baja California and Imperial, Southern Orange, Southern Riverside, La Paz, Mohave, Yuma and Clark counties. They say they want to maintain home-field advantage, and a stadium full of Dodger Blue isn’t going to give them that.
