The Chiefs announce several key roster decisions between MNF and Saints just before Week 5

The Chiefs announced a handful of key roster decisions just before their Monday Night Football showdown with the Saints in Week 5.

Despite speculation that Justyn Ross or Nikko Remigio could be named to the 53-man roster to help the offense, the Chiefs are moving forward with just five wide receivers on Monday.

Jody Fortson is part of a four-man tight end group in his return to Kansas City, setting up what could be an exciting celebration for the fan-favorite pass catcher.

Xavier Worthy, Justin Watson, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Mecole Hardman and Skyy Moore are the only active receivers. Travis Kelce, Noah Gray, Jared Wiley and Fortson are the tight ends.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire will not be considered as a running back, leaving Kareem Hunt, Carson Steele and Samaje Perine as the lead backs.

We’ll see what happens in the future regarding each position, although none of these decisions will be a big surprise. Kansas City enters its bye week following its rematch with Derek Carr on Monday, giving players plenty of time to recover before the long road ahead.

This could be one of the last games without Edwards-Helaire in uniform. He recently came off injured reserve and returned to training, giving him a 21-day window to return to the 53-man roster. Theoretically, there will be a corresponding move at running back, but it’s unclear who could be on the chopping block.

Monday’s results could determine future moves, so pay close attention to the position against the Saints.
