Charlotte, the daughter of Steven Drozd of the Flaming Lips, disappears in Seattle

Charlotte “Bowie” Drozd, the daughter of Steven Drozd, a member of the legendary rock band The Flaming Lips, was reported missing in Seattle, sparking concern among her family and friends.

Charlotte Drozd was last spotted aboard the monorail near the Seattle Space Needle at 11:30 a.m. on October 5, possibly on her way to downtown Seattle.

The rocker’s daughter is described as a 16-year-old white woman, around 1.70 meters tall and weighing around 60 kilograms. She has brown hair and brown eyes, according to a post from The Flaming Lips X, formerly of Twitter, on Monday afternoon.

Newsweek contacted the Seattle Police Department, which confirmed that Charlotte Drozd was still considered a missing or runaway juvenile, according to the police report. An investigator from the Missing Persons Investigation Unit has been assigned to investigate her case.

Anyone with information should contact police at 205-625-5011 or Becky Drozd at 405-831-6795.

In 2023, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) supported 28,886 missing child cases, including young adults ages 18 to 20. Of those cases, 3,580 remained active while 25,306 were resolved.

In Washington state, a total of 1,331 children have been reported missing, 1,247 have been successfully located and 84 cases are currently active.

The majority of missing child cases reported to NCMEC are runaway children. These vulnerable children face significant risks, including homelessness, gang involvement and child trafficking. Decades of research have shown that family abduction, the second most common type of case, causes serious harm to child victims and their families.
