Are you planning to vote in the upcoming election? The registration deadline is October 7th

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — We are almost a month away from Election Day 2024! If you plan to vote in Maricopa County, there are some important deadlines you need to know about.

Monday, October 7th – This is the last day to register to vote. Here’s what you should know about the voter registration deadline.

Wednesday, October 9th – Early ballots will be mailed.

Friday, October 25th – The last day to request early voting.

Tuesday, October 29th – The Recorder’s Office recommends returning your ballot by today to ensure it arrives on time.

Tuesday, November 5th – Election day.

Last week, Arizona’s family got a look at the county’s tabulation center, where preparations are in full swing for vote centers to open next week. Poll workers prepare the tabs you will use when you vote in person. County officials say your ballot will be stored in a tamper-proof locker with a seal and escorted by guards back to the tally center at the end of the day.

When it comes to voter registration, many wait until the last minute, says Taylor Kinnerup of the Recorder’s Office. In September, nearly 40,000 people in the county registered to vote, she said.

“For some people, it really depends on the wire,” Kinnerup said. “We have seen a sharp increase in the number of voters in the last month. This is pretty common in elections. It’s a pretty cyclical increase.”

The county clerk’s office says there are about 2.5 million registered voters in Maricopa County. About 1.9 million people are on the active early voting list. If you’re on this list, Kinnerup says you have options.

“You can mail it back to us; You can drop it off in a ballot drop box,” she said. “You can vote in person or you can ignore your mail-in ballot entirely and vote in person on Election Day.”
