Is Verizon down? Thousands Report Problems – NBC New York

According to the website Downdetector.com, thousands of users reported problems with Verizon’s wireless service on Monday morning, a week after they experienced widespread network problems.

Verizon said there was a brief issue previously, but it has been resolved.

“Some Verizon Wireless customers experienced a brief service interruption while making landline calls this morning. The outage lasted several minutes and is now resolved,” Verizon said in a statement to NBC New York.

The reports hit the site just before 8 a.m. Eastern Time but tapered off before 9 a.m. According to Downdetector’s outage map, New York City, Washington, Chicago and Phoenix are among the cities with the most reported problems.

“Your call cannot be completed as dialed”

Some customers reported that they were unable to make calls and received the following message: “Welcome to Verizon Wireless, your call cannot be completed as dialed.”

Customers reached out the Verizon Support account on X for help, with one user saying, “Why are you down again?” Verizon recommends users check for outages here.

A week ago, some Verizon customers reported that their phone was stuck in “SOS mode” and unable to make calls. The service resumed just after 7pm last Monday.
