Jennifer Hudson stuns in a sheer latex dress before her momentous appearance

It’s an exciting day – and month – for Jennifer Hudson.

The EGOT winner is busy preparing for her stage comeback this weekend as she prepares to perform for the American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special, airing Sunday at 8pm EST on CBS.

Next to talk show host Mariah Carey Green Day, Stray Kids, Kane Brown, Raye, Gladys Knight, Brad Paisley And Chaka Khan were also announced as performers.

Before her exciting performance, for which she will honor the only one Whitney Houstonwho won 22 AMAs in her lifetime, Jennifer took to Instagram to share a first look at her fabulous look for the special evening.

For the big moment, she opted for a black latex dress with sheer sleeves and a rhinestone collar and accentuated the elegant look by styling her hair in a slicked-back ponytail and topped it off with a smokey eye look and diamond earrings.

“Don’t miss my appearance THIS Sunday on 8ET | 5PT on @cbstv and streaming on @paramountplus. “I will be honoring The Voice myself Ms. @whitneyhouston,” Jennifer wrote in her caption, and fans were quick to read the comments section below the post and rave about it.

“Omg, a very similar outfit to Whitney’s 1994 AMAs performance! I can’t wait to see it,” one remarked, while others followed his example and said, “Kill us all! We can hardly wait!” and: “You look incredibly beautiful” and: “It’s going to be good!”

Although the Dreamgirls actress, now the host of her eponymous talk show, has largely left the music industry aside from occasional, impromptu appearances, she recently confirmed that she has signed a new record deal; It’s been a whopping ten years since she released her last original solo album, JHUD, in 2014.

Jennifer announced the news earlier this month with a video on Instagram in which she is seen driving, taking a deep breath and declaring, “It’s important,” adding, “I’m very excited. It’s a beautiful day. This is what I’ve worked for my whole life, so it’s a very special day and I thank God.”

Appearing both thoughtful and nervous, she went on to share, “It’s a wonderful time right now, it really is,” before admitting that she’s definitely “tired” but the “anxiety” is waking her up.

“I’m more excited than tired,” she added, writing in her caption, “It’s official!!! I’m so excited to join the @interscope family! Get ready! The music is coming!!!”
