The Charlotte Hornets are playing basketball today

What: Charlotte Hornets vs. New York Knicks

When: 5:00 p.m. Eastern

Where: Spectrum Center; Charlotte, NC

How to watch: NBATV

Injuries: Hornets – Mark Williams – out (foot), Cody Martin – out (finger)

Well, what do we have here? It’s a Charlotte Hornets basketball game. That’s it. It counts for nothing, but it’s a basketball game. And it features Hornets players who will be in the rotation for the real game. And against a team that made a lot of headlines with off-season maneuvers.

We won’t be able to learn much from this game. The regular rotation guys typically play around 15-20 minutes in the opening game, and there will certainly be a lot of rust to shake off. I’ll be watching to see if there’s a notable difference in playstyle, but even that will be hard to say since preseason basketball tends to be a bit slower than full-speed basketball.

In any case, we will see LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller on the floor together again. There will be a few known injury absences, but both have minor injuries that are completely unrelated to the issues that have kept them out in the past.

The Knicks tentatively plan to trade newly acquired Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges, meaning the Hornets will be the first team to face the new-look Knicks. I think this is somewhat interesting and will put the game in the national spotlight a bit.

So sit back and enjoy some preseason basketball on a football Sunday. As always, feel free to use the comments section to chat about the game before, during and after the game.
