American Music Awards 50th Anniversary special: How to watch and where to stream it for free

The American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special will premiere Sunday, October 6, at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time (7:00 p.m. Central Time) on CBS.

Music icons Brad Paisley, Nelly, Chaka Khan, Gladys Knight, Green Day, Jennifer Hudson, Kane Brown, Mariah Carey, RAYE and Stray Kids will perform during the special, with Carrie Underwood, Gloria Estefan, Jennifer Lopez and Jimmy Kimmel also appearing Apparitions.

The American Music Awards 50th Anniversary TV Special pays homage to the past 50 years and features stunning new performances, heartfelt artist interviews, legendary special guests and exclusive, never-before-seen footage from DCP’s extensive archives capturing iconic moments highlights those who have shaped The awards ceremony has shaped pop culture, according to the AMAs.

The American Music Awards, the world’s largest fan-voted awards show, will return in May 2025.

Where can I watch the American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special?

Although the premiere is on CBS, those without cable TV can live stream the American Music Awards 50th anniversary special on Sunday with Fubo, DirecTV Stream and Paramount+.

All three streaming services offer free trials for new subscribers with the option to cancel at any time before the trial ends, so you can watch them for free before committing to anything.

What is Fubo?

Fubo is designed for those looking for an alternative to the simple cable.

Fubo bills itself as a sports-focused live streaming service, but overall the standard package includes over 100 live TV channels for $79.99 per month after the 7-day free trial. These channels include ESPN, ABC, NBC, CBS, TLC, MTV and many more.

Fubo also offers a variety of shows and movies that users can watch on-demand, as well as the ability to record your favorite TV shows.

What is DirecTV Stream?

DirecTV Stream is similar to Fubo in that it offers many of the same channels and features. The basic package costs $94.98 per month after the five-day free trial and includes just over 90 live TV channels.

What is Paramount+ with Showtime?

The Paramount+ with Showtime package costs users $11.99 per month and has replaced Paramount+’s ad-free premium plan, which cost $9.99.

Although Paramount+ is not a live streaming service, it allows premium subscribers to live stream certain content and special shows as they premiere on regular television.

Paramount+ Essential subscribers will not have the option to live stream the AMAs anniversary special, but will be able to stream it on-demand the day after the premiere.
