Chelsea 1-1 Nottingham Forest, Premier League: Post-match reactions, reviews

The course of the game was set in the first minute, with Chelsea dominating possession and controlling the game and Forest holding back with ten, sometimes eleven men behind the ball.

Chelsea found some space on the wings with Madueke and Sancho trying to get things going, but Forest packed the box and space there was very tight. Madueke tried his luck a few times in 1v1s, but our first shot on goal didn’t come until the final minutes of the half: a flurry of chances, Enzo came close and Palmer hit the post.

At the other end, Colwill blocked a shot to remind us that Forest were indeed a threat on the counter-attack.

And Forest also posed a threat from set pieces, with one of them leading to a goal in the opening minutes of the second half.

Chelsea responded well and Madueke equalized less than ten minutes later and was rewarded for his effort and positive play. We pushed for a quick second but were unable to do so despite numerous chances, most of which once again fell to Madueke.

James Ward-Prowse received a very blatant second yellow card in the 78th minute, but that didn’t change much as Forest already had ten men in their penalty area at any given time.

Things started off after a late foul by Williams on Cucurella out of bounds, but we got back into the game and suffered 13(!) minutes of added time (half of which was due to Gibbs-White’s injury and treatment that lasted six minutes).

Chelsea created some excellent chances in stoppage time, but neither Félix nor Nkunku were able to capitalize on them. On the other hand, Sánchez also made two ridiculous stops to at least preserve the tie.

Carefree.

  • Full rotation from midweek. Same starting eleven as last weekend.
  • The first goal for Noni since Wolves’ hat-trick
  • Hopefully Colwill’s hip problem is nothing serious
  • Cucurella and Fofana suspended for the next game due to accumulating yellow cards
  • Next up: international break, then Liverpool away in two weeks
  • KTBFFH
