How Ohio State’s defense made Iowa’s offense one-dimensional to force a second-half turnover

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State football knew what Iowa wanted to do on Saturday.

The Hawkeyes ranked 10th in the country in rushing yards heading into Saturday’s matchup, led by the nation’s second-leading runner, Kaleb Johnson.

Ohio State struggled offensively in the first half, which allowed Iowa to launch its offense from the floor, even if it wasn’t nearly as successful as it has been all season.

But after Ohio State jumped out to a 14-0 lead en route to a 35-7 win, Iowa couldn’t just run the football anymore. Iowa had to focus more on passing despite ranking 125th out of 134 FBS teams in passing yards per game (147.5).
