The star of “28 Weeks Later” talks about his return for the new film

Imogen Poots has spoken about her possible return for the third part of the film trilogy “28 Days Later”.

Poots played the role of Tammy in 2007’s 28 Weeks Later, the direct sequel to Danny Boyle’s 2002 smash hit 28 Days Later, in which Cillian Murphy played Jim, the only survivor after a brutal, rage-inducing epidemic.

After a new film in the series was officially confirmed, Poots spoke about a possible return to her role during her appearance on “The One Show” alongside presenters Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas.

“Oscar winner Cillian Murphy was in 28 Days Later,” Jenas told Poots. “You were in a sequel, weren’t you… I heard there might be a 28 Years Later movie – would you be willing to reprise the role?”

In response, Poots said: “I loved working with this group of people, I mean, I would jump at it in a heartbeat.”

She then pointed out a rather serious shortcoming in her possible return.

“But I’m confused because if it’s years later, then I guess in a zombie apocalypse everyone gets free Botox because otherwise we’ll all look ancient, right?”

Murphy recently commented on the third part of the series and revealed that, although he was not in the second part, he would like to take on his role again.

“I can’t say much more at this point,” he told Variety. “But I’ve always said I’d love to be a part of it because this film changed everything for me – I have a lot of affection for it and the guys (Alex Garland and Danny). I never watch my own films, except this one.”

“It always comes out around Halloween and during the pandemic, people kept sending me clips. And I showed it to my kids. It’s really stood the test of time, even though it’s 22 years old now, so I’m really excited that we’re getting the band back together to do this one.”

28 years later is currently under development.
