    College football live scores, games, updates: Miami overtakes Cal to cap wild day

    With only one matchup between the top 25 teams on the schedule, this week looked like it might be a dud. But college football always delivers when you least expect it, and it pulled off a big one on Saturday with two upsets in the top five.

    A week after beating Georgia in a clash of SEC titans, No. 1 Alabama lost 40-35 to Vanderbilt in Nashville. Later, No. 4 Tennessee fell 19-14 to Arkansas after the Hogs staged a fourth-quarter comeback to cap a wild day in the SEC.

    The Commodores were 23.5 point underdogs, but never trailed in the surprising win. Vandy QB Diego Pavia was the hero, completing 16 of his 20 passes for 252 yards and two touchdowns while also adding 57 yards rushing.

    The Razorbacks’ defense was key to the win over the Volunteers, keeping Nico Iamaleava in check all night (17 of 29, 158 yards), but the hero was backup QB Malachi Singleton. He stepped in after Taylen Green was injured late in the game and led the Hogs on a game-winning touchdown drive, using his legs to rocket into the end zone for an 11-yard score. The Vols had a chance to fight back, but failed.

    And even in the game that wasn’t a surprise, No. 8 Miami rallied from a 25-point deficit to beat Cal 39-38 in night ACC action.

    Elsewhere, No. 5 Georgia bounced back from its loss to Alabama by beating Auburn, and No. 3 Ohio State looked convincing in a win over Iowa, with freshman Jeremiah Smith making another one-handed touchdown grab. No. 25 Texas A&M throttled No. 9 Missouri 41-10 earlier in the day in the only ranked-versus-ranked matchup.

      Malachi Singleton has to be the Hogs’ hero after Taylen Green suffered an injury that kept him out of the game.

      The Gophers pull off the upset over the No. 11 Trojans.

      Fans storm the field in Seattle. Big win for the Huskies over No. 10 Michigan in a rematch for the national title.

      It’s tipped over!

      Max Brosmer crossed the goal line and the Gophers took a 24-17 lead over USC with less than a minute to play!

    • Minnesota stopped at the goal line?

      The Gophers tried it on 4th down from the 1st and the play is referred to as “short of the goal line” but is still under review.

      Minnesota and USC were tied 17:17 with 56 seconds left in the game. The game could depend on this decision.

    • Washington adds a FG

      Grady Gross scores from 32 yards and that should be the end of the game in Seattle.

      Washington leads Michigan 27-17 with 1:06 to play.
