Dave Portnoy and Michigan up the ante and make a huge pitch to Bryce Underwood

A few weeks ago, Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy made major headlines when he said he would be willing to spend more than $3 million to buy Michigan a “top ten” quarterback each year. This is happening because the Wolverines have next to no passing game, with Davis Warren and Alex Orji struggling.

Portnoy’s offer alone is huge and Michigan would certainly have to consider it in this zero era of college football. Portnoy explained on the Basrtool Pick’em podcast this week that he has already spoken with Sherone Moore and members of the Wolverines program. However, the offer has been increased and Michigan fans have one name in mind: LSU commit Bryce Underwood.

Chat Sports founder and host of Michigan Football Report on YouTube James Yoder has secured an extra million if it means Michigan signs Underwood.

“If Portnoy goes to three million, he taps out if we add a million dollars to his three million to make it four million dollars. This is conditional, this is the offer to Bryce Underwood.”

Now the offer alone shouldn’t deter LSU, as the Tigers have strong newcomers who could easily cough up the money in an emergency. However, the support of state sponsors coupled with Portnoy’s popularity and media empire could provide Underwood with an opportunity to further expand his brand that LSU may not be able to match.

Underwood remains loyal to LSU and has not attended another school since committing to LSU, but that could change in an instant. If Brian Kelly and his staff were to lose Bryce Underwood, it would be devastating as he is the top recruit in the nation and a key recruiter for the Tigers.
