    Packers receiver Romeo Doubs is not with the team before the Rams game

    LOS ANGELES – Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs, who has been listed as questionable for personal reasons, will not play in Saturday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams.

    Doubs, a source close to the team said, did not travel because of an issue unrelated to an injury, family issue or league-related suspension. The issue is expected to be resolved and it does not appear that Doubs’ future with the team is in jeopardy.

    According to Bill Huber of SportsIllustrated.com, Doubs was unhappy with his role in the offense. Doubs trained on Wednesday, the day the week’s schedule is presented to the players. But then he didn’t show up for training on Thursday.

    The Packers listed him on the injury report as not involved – personally. When asked about Doubs Thursday, coach Matt LaFleur said he hoped he would be back on the practice field Friday. Doubs didn’t show up again. LaFleur did not give a specific reason for his absence.

    If the Packers believe Doubs missed practice for a reason they don’t deem necessary, they could impose disciplinary action in the form of fines or suspensions. The former would not prevent him from traveling with the team, but the latter would require him to stay home.

    Doubs ranks third on the team with 20 targets, but isn’t far behind leaders Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks, who have 22 each. But in the game against Minnesota on Sunday, Wicks had 13 targets, caught just five and dropped three passes.

    Doubs and Reed each had eight goals.

    The Packers did not reduce Wicks’ playing time despite his absences. Wicks played 58 snaps while Doubs played 65 snaps. Wicks’ snaps likely would have been lower had Christian Watson not suffered an ankle sprain and been unable to return to the game.

    Doubs is tied for second with tight end Tucker Kraft with 12 receptions. He totaled 169 yards and no touchdowns.

    Doubs is used to being the preferred receiver. He led the team with 96 targets last year and ranked second on the team in his rookie season in 2021.

    Neither receiver had an exceptionally high number of receptions this year, in part because quarterback Jordan Love missed two games. The Packers threw just 33 passes in the two games in which backup quarterback Malik Willis started.

    Watson was the most ignored of all the receivers. He only has eight targets and caught five of them for 80 yards and a touchdown. Watson played just nine snaps against the Vikings and in the first three games he played 117 snaps while Doubs played 159 snaps.

    Due to Doubs’ absence, the Packers are shorthanded heading into their game against the Rams. Watson is doubtful, which leaves the receiving duties to Reed, Wicks, Bo Melton, Malik Heath and one of the practice squad receivers.
