He is also moving up the list of passing yardage leaders. Gabriel is currently just 14 yards behind Harrell, fourth all-time. He still has a long way to go to get Keenum to the top of the list; Gabriel would need to reach 3,438 passing yards to join Keenum at the top of the list, which seems unlikely at this point. However, Gabriel’s 1,294 passing yards would rank second all-time.

UCLA’s pass defense hasn’t been strong this year. The Bruins are allowing 295.3 passing yards per game and 10.8 yards per completion. They also gave up eight passing touchdowns.

Their run defense was the stronger aspect, allowing just 3.2 yards per carry and 92.0 rushing yards per game. To be fair, they haven’t come up against a rushing attack with as much talent as Oregon, and last week’s game showed that their broken tackle rate and safety play made it a long one for the Bruins’ defense against the Ducks could make a day. This will prove to be a big test of their run defense trends early in the season. Oregon has averaged 5.2 yards per carry and 175.0 yards per game in its first three games, while also averaging a whopping 11.4 yards per pass.

With a stronger run defense than pass defense, Gabriel should have his chances to attack the Bruins from the air, further aiding his pursuit of multiple career records.
