Buffalo Bills Stock Report: Winners and Losers from Preseason Loss to Bears

Hmm. That was really bad.

The Buffalo Bills lost to the Chicago Bears 33-6 at the beginning of the preseason.

Despite the loss, there were a handful of notable performances – both good and bad. Here is the first stock report of the season

Share price rises

Ray Davis (center)

Davis showed he will fight for every yard. He caught a pass over the middle just before the stacks, but fought through several Bears tacklers to gain 13 yards. His offensive line didn’t do him any favors, I’ll get into that later, but he finished the day with three catches and the impressive run after the catch.

Linebacker Dorian Williams

Williams had five tackles and a sack to start his preseason. After being used primarily as a backup as a rookie, the Tulane product could become the best rotation linebacker behind Terrel Bernard and Matt Milano.

WR Andy Isabella

In one of the few notable offensive plays of the day, Isabella caught a 15-yard pass and also looked solid as a returner. Special teams is the most likely path for Isabella to make the final 53-man roster. He protected the ball and could get more opportunities next week.

Share price falls

QB Mitch Trubisky

I knew football season had officially started when Trubisky left Quinton Morris completely free for a touchdown and threw the ball over his head to the third row. There are a lot of lousy backup quarterbacks in the NFL, and Mitch Trubisky is their admiral.

WR KJ Hamler

Hamler didn’t play too badly. He had a 15-yard punt return, but also botched a kickoff. Like Isabella, Hamler’s best chance of making the roster is as a returner, and dropped kicks won’t help him do that.

WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling

MVS had problems with drops in training camp and those problems continued in the season opener. He dropped his first ball of the game and finished the afternoon with zero catches.

Offensive line.

All of them. The Bills couldn’t run the ball the entire game, no matter who was up front. Buffalo’s running backs had a total of 19 runs for 36 yards that day. Just awful.
