An employee of a popular coffee chain in Bengaluru hid a mobile phone in the ladies’ restroom that was “playing a video recording for about two hours.” The incident took place at the Third Wave Coffee branch on BEL Road in the city.

Instagram user ‘Gangs Of Cinepur’ shared a story on his account in which a user narrates what happened at the branch. “I was at Third Wave Coffee branch in Bengaluru… A woman found a phone in the washroom hidden in the dustbin and pointed at the toilet seat. It had about two hours of video recording. It was on airplane mode so it didn’t make any noise,” the story said.

“The phone was carefully hidden in the garbage bag with a hole made in it so only the camera was visible. It was quickly discovered that the phone belonged to one of the men working there. The police were called and they soon arrived and action is being taken,” it added.

“This was so horrible to watch. I will be vigilant in every restroom I use from now on, no matter how well known the cafe or restaurant chain is. I ask you all to do the same. This is disgusting,” the story posted on Instagram reads.

Third Wave Coffee responded to the incident, saying, “We regret the unfortunate incident that occurred at our BEL Road branch in Bengaluru and would like to reiterate that such actions are absolutely unacceptable at Third Wave Coffee.”

Police confirmed that the accused was arrested under the IT Act. The man is in his early twenties and hails from Bhadrawati in Karnataka.
