Isolated rain showers will pass through, during the week it will be seasonal

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Showers and downpours will continue for most of Tuesday as we see a low pressure system slowly moving east. We are on the west side of the low pressure system and the mountains will help keep much of the rain on the east side of the Smokies.

Use our WVLT First Alert Weather app for iPhone or Android to stay informed on the go and between newscasts. We share custom videos and you can receive our messages on the latest conditions and forecast.

WHAT TO EXPECT

When you step out the door this morning, don’t forget your rain jacket or umbrella as there will be light to moderate rain. Temperatures will be pleasant at around 15 degrees Celsius, even above 10 degrees Celsius in areas where there will be rainfall.

Temperatures will change slowly throughout the day due to clouds and rain, but areas to the west and south will warm up a little more as rain continues to be more erratic. Maximum temperatures will be between 21 and 25 degrees, which is about 10 degrees below average. Rain cover will become more erratic as the low pressure system weakens and retreats during the night.

OUTLOOK

We’ll continue to see a mix of sun and clouds on Wednesday and Thursday, but overall rain will remain much more sparse. The afternoons will become much more seasonal towards the end of the week and into the weekend, with temperatures back in the 30s.

The good news is that it will stay relatively dry over the weekend, and Sunday will be the first full day of fall! We’ll be following the latest developments in the WVLT First Alert 8-day planner.
