It’s only Week 2, but Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt may have already made his best defensive play of the year.

On the last play of the third quarter in Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs, Taylor-Britt made a one-handed interception on a pass from Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes that was intended for rookie receiver Xavier Worthy:

Taylor-Britt’s incredible interception backs up the bulletin board material he provided to the Chiefs when he told reporters earlier this week he wasn’t impressed with Worthy’s skills. When asked what the dynamic rookie brings to Kansas City’s offense, he said he’s “fast, that’s all” and “he can run straight.” Although it was thought Mahomes would target Taylor-Britt for his trash-talking outbursts, the 24-year-old proved he was up to the challenge.

Taylor-Britt’s interception was also reminiscent of Odell Beckham Jr.’s famous one-handed catch against the Dallas Cowboys in 2014.

The Bengals showed no fear heading into their Week 2 clash with the defending Super Bowl champions. Star receiver Ja’Marr Chase told reporters that Cincinnati is “the team to beat in the AFC,” noting, “Everybody knows that, brother.”

In Sunday’s game, the Bengals took a 16-10 halftime lead before a choppy second half. Mahomes also threw a pass in the first quarter that was intercepted by Cincinnati linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither.

If the Bengals can pull out the win, they will prove to the masses that they are one of the top contenders in the AFC this season, but Taylor-Britt’s interception will be remembered as one of the most important plays of the year, regardless of whether they win or lose.
