    What would you do to win a new car?

    At the 2024 Oklahoma State Fair, four participants entered a Nissan Sentra at 11 a.m. Thursday and the last one standing will win the car.

    “I try to make it as uncomfortable as possible for them. They are at my mercy,” laughed Chris Cowden, owner of DentSource LLC, which organizes the competition.

    The show’s Stinkin’ Sentra contest is reminiscent of a similar contest in the ’90s that offered a Geo Metro as a prize. New this year is a live stream of the contest, which will be posted on the show organizer’s YouTube channel.

    All participants must stay in the car 24 hours a day, except for their 15-minute bathroom breaks every three hours. There is no air conditioning and the driver can only control the windows.

    Cowden said he would provide meals for the participants and they would change seats every three hours during their bathroom breaks.

    One person has already escaped the competition after leaving the car on Thursday afternoon.

    “It was tough and I think the lady who got out yesterday got quite ill. I think the heat got to her a bit,” Cowden said.

    He said that since the competition began, several trade fair visitors have come to watch and participate in the competition.

    “It’s been the biggest hit and the biggest thrill for us. We’re having so much fun and people can’t believe it. They’re just shocked, it’s been an amazing time,” said Cowden.
