Police thank Jon Bon Jovi for his help in convincing a woman to step off the bridge

In “random but heartwarming” news today: Jon Bon Jovi reportedly helped save a woman’s life this week. Nashville police publicly thanked the musician for being one of the few people who intervened when they saw a woman standing on the edge of a bridge in the city on Tuesday night. In a tweet that included a link to a YouTube video of the incident (which has since been removed) showing Bon Jovi talking to the woman and then hugging her after she climbs back over the bridge’s railing, Nashville police said Bon Jovi helped “persuade” her to step away from the edge.

The musician was apparently filming a music video on the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge on Tuesday night when he and members of his team noticed a woman standing on the wrong side of the bridge’s safety railing “looking distraught.” In the video, Bon Jovi and another person (reportedly a member of his team) can be seen approaching the woman, talking to her for a minute, and then helping her over the railing. No one from Bon Jovi’s team has yet commented on the incident, but Nashville police thanked the artist and his team, quoting Police Chief John Drake as saying, “We all need each other to keep us safe.”

So, yeah: weird, but apparently nice! It remains to be seen whether the incident will be included in the vast pantheon of “musician suddenly shows up to help someone in a dangerous situation” stories, where it would potentially join “that time the dirty old bastard pulled a four-year-old’s car away,” which is still the pinnacle of its kind.
