OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – We’ll start the day with enough cloud cover and breeze to avoid a widespread freeze in the area Tuesday morning. However, temperatures around 40°C will still be cool with this breeze.

Luckily the wind will die down as the day goes on, as it will only get up to 50 degrees this afternoon. There will definitely be an autumnal feel in the air all day long.

Light winds and clear skies tonight will bring temperatures down to the coldest levels of the season by Wednesday morning. We will all fall below freezing and some of us could also experience a hard freeze. For this reason, tonight into Wednesday morning is a 6th Weather Warning Day.

You should take some precautions with above-ground water pipes, but with that brief dip below 90°F (32°C), everything underground should be fine. Plants are likely to struggle if you’ve been able to keep them away from frost so far this season. We will be able to recover well to near average levels by Wednesday afternoon.

Warm and windy conditions will then prevail for the remainder of the week with high temperatures in the 70s on Thursday and Friday and southerly wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour per day.
