In a great weekend, the Nebraska football team not only recorded a victory on the field, but also found success in recruiting new players.

The state of Nebraska’s top player for the class of 2025 has officially joined the Cornhuskers. Christian Jones, a four-star linebacker from Omaha Westside, made the announcement on social media Monday night.

The caption of the post reads, “THROW THE BONES.” Jones ends the video by stepping out of a corn row wearing a Blackshirt shirt and saying, “There’s no place like Nebraska.”

The 6-foot-2, 215-pound recruit is the No. 19 linebacker in the country according to the 247Sports Composite and ranks No. 161 among national juniors. Jones chose the Huskers over USC, Boston College, Iowa and Iowa State.

247Sports scouting analyst Gabe Brooks gave Jones high scores for his athleticism.

“Motor runs hot and shows in pursuit,” Brooks said. “Shows good linear approach speed but can also redirect to catch up. Could be a key asset on special teams early in college career. Shows functional strength as a defender with the ability to play despite contact with obvious core strength and body control.”

Nebraska’s class of 2025 now has 19 commitments. Seven of the commitments are 247Sports Composite four-stars: Jones, wide receiver Isaiah Mozee, quarterback TJ Lateef, defensive lineman Malcolm Simpson, defensive lineman Kade Pietrzak, running back Jamarion Parker and cornerback Bryson Webber.
