3 bold predictions for Seahawks RB Kenenth Walker vs. 49ers

Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald and offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb have spent all week leading up to Thursday night’s NFC West showdown game against the San Francisco 49ers talking about getting running back Kenneth Walker more involved in the offense. In last weekend’s disappointing loss to the New York Giants, Walker recorded a season-low five runs.

Walker rushed for 19 yards and was only given a handful of chances, even though the Seahawks were tied 10-10 at halftime. Macdonald’s team never trailed by more than one possession until the final minute of the fourth quarter. Despite this, Walker has been largely neglected.

With Walker reportedly heavily involved in the game plan for Thursday’s divisional game against the rival 49ers, we’ve made three bold predictions for his stats.

Walker recorded the highest number of carries on the season

Walker recorded a season-high 20 carries in the Week 1 win over the Denver Broncos. He was then sidelined by injury and returned to a 12-carry workload in prime time against the Detroit Lions before an inexcusable 5-carry performance against the Giants. With Walker at the center of Grubb’s attack, he should easily surpass his previous personal best of 20 runs on Thursday night.

Walker rushes for over 100 yards

Walker rushed for 103 yards against the Broncos and nearly reached triple figures again against the Lions (80). The former Michigan State star only managed 100 yards rushing once last season, but his recent form suggests more success is on the horizon. It will be tough to play against a ninth-ranked 49ers defense that allows 110.8 rushing yards per game, but Walker’s potential volume suggests he could top the 100-yard rushing mark.

Walker scores a rushing touchdown

Walker scored a rushing touchdown against the Broncos and added three more points against the Lions. He didn’t score against the Giants, but that could be because he scored five runs. Walker’s significant workload against San Francisco should help the versatile ball carrier get to the end zone.
