The Braves finished the GoSarpy.com Classic with a score of 1-2. Ottawa lost its first game of the season 3-1 to Dickinson State University and then lost 3-0 to (RV) Morningside University last Friday in Bellevue, Nebraska. OU rebounded to beat Dordt University 3-0 last Saturday.

Ottawa finished last weekend’s three games with 137 kills, a .251 attack percentage, 127 assists, seven service aces, 157 digs and 15 team blocks.

Through three games this season, Ottawa has averaged 13.7 kills per set, 12.7 assists per set, 1.5 blocks per set, 0.7 service aces per set and 15.7 digs per set. OU has an attack percentage of .251.

Ottawa ranks 18th in the NAIA in kills per set (13.7), 18th in attack percentage (.251), 17th in assists per set (12.7), 49th in block errors (7) and 52nd in points per set (15.9).

Radaisy Valdez is OU’s leading player with 38 kills. She averages 3.8 kills per set. Madison Brown leads the Braves with 63 assists, averaging 6.3 per set. Kenzie Kuxhaus leads OU in digs with 45 and has an average of 4.5 digs per set. Valdez and Campbell Stark The Braves lead with seven blocks each. Their average is 0.7 per set.

Thursday’s game against Our Lady of the Lake University will be the first meeting between the two teams. Ottawa’s game against Rocky Mountain College will be the third meeting between OU and RMC. The Battlin’ Bears lead the series 2-0. The last time the two teams met was on August 31, 2019 at the GoSarpy.com Classic in Bellevue, Nebraska. Rocky Mountain won that game 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-19). Saturday’s game between Ottawa and John Brown University will be the 11th game between the two teams. JBU leads the series 6-4. Ottawa won the last game on August 25, 2023 in Belleuve, Nebraska, 3-1 (22-25, 25-23, 25-17, 25-21).

Our Lady of the Lake University has a record of 3-5. The Saints average 11.76 kills per set, 11.3 assists per set, 1.8 blocks per set, 1.4 service aces per set and 16.7 digs per set. OLLU has an attack percentage of .138. The Saints rank 22nd in the NAIA in kills (341), 7th in errors (190), 11th in total attacks (1,096), 19th in assists (328), 44th in service aces (43), 6th in service errors (82), 12th in receptions (589), 31st in reception errors (45), 14th in digs (487), 41st in digs per set (16.7), 3rd in solo blocks (32), 29th in total blocks (53) and 30th in block errors (10).

Camila Ramirez is OLLU’s top player with 76 kills and averages 2.62 kills per set. Lauren Reynard is the team’s top player in assists (192) and averages 6.62 assists per set. Tina Trevino is the Saints’ top player in digs (171) and digs per set (5.9). Anais Velasquez is the team’s top player in blocks with 18. Makaelyn Perez is the Saints’ top player in blocks per set (0.68).

Rocky Mountain College opens the 2024 season 6-1. The Battlin’ Bears have won four games in a row. RMC is averaging 10.9 kills per set, 10.2 assists per set, 2.3 blocks per set, 1.8 service aces per set and 18.2 digs per set. Rocky Mountain has an attack percentage of .176. RMC ranks 34th in the NAIA in total attacks (916), 36th in service aces (46), 46th in service errors (51), 25th in receiving errors (47), 23rd in digs (457), 22nd in digs per set (18.2), 4th in solo blocks (29), 23rd in total blocks (58), 19th in blocks per set (2.3) and 44th in points (377.5).

Makenna Bushman leads the Battlin’ Bears with 71 kills. Her average is 2.8 kills per set. Blythe Sealey is RMC’s leading assists player (222) and is at 8.8 assists per set. Brooke Ark is the team’s leading digs player with 152. Her average is 6.08 digs per set. Kaitlyn Wood leads the team with 23 blocks. Her average is 0.9 blocks per set.

John Brown University is off to a 1-3 start in 2024 and has lost three straight games. The Golden Eagles are averaging 10.4 kills per set, 9.5 assists per set, 2.1 blocks per set, 1.2 service aces per set and 14.5 digs per set. JBU ranks 58th in the NAIA in block assists (60), 33rd in blocks per set (2.1) and 10th in block errors (10).

Savanna Riney is the team’s best player with 39 kills ahead of John Brown. Her average is 2.4 per set. Emma DeSanti is the team’s best player with 78 assists and her average is 4.8 assists per set. Mia Baedke is JBU’s best player in digs (56) and her average is 3.5 digs per set. Erin Yarborough is the team’s best player with 21 blocks and her average is 1.3 blocks per set.
