Kansas City Chiefs team preview

After winning their third Super Bowl in the last five years, the Kansas City Chiefs are on an incredible winning streak. With two consecutive victories under their belt, they’re hoping their offseason will help them make their third consecutive appearance, which will take place in New Orleans, Louisiana.

While this hasn’t been the Chiefs’ busiest offseason, it has been a significant one. After placing the franchise tag on elite corner L’Jarius Sneed, the Chiefs traded him to the Titans for a 2025 third-round pick and a 2024 seventh-round pick. The Chiefs are confident that Steve Spagnuolo will continue to draft and develop cornerbacks.

While the move of Sneed was a big deal, the Chiefs also made significant changes at the wide receiver position.

The Chiefs would trade up to pick 28 and grab Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy. He should be an exceptional complement to Rashee Rice and newly signed Marquise Brown, giving Patrick Mahomes a wealth of options to target. These speedy receivers will likely boost Mahomes’ aDOT (Average Distance of Target), which was 6.8 last season. Over the course of his career, Mahomes’ aDOT averaged 8.2. With newfound speed on offense, we could see some of those classic downfield shots that Mahomes did so well during his seven-year career.

With a revamped receiver group and the consistency of Travis Kelce, the Chiefs are expected to lead the AFC West again. No other team in the league is as clear a favorite to win the division as the Chiefs at -230. That odds implies a 69.7% chance for the Chiefs to win the division. Next would be the Chargers at +320, which is an implied chance of 23.8%. The Chiefs also have the best odds to win the AFC Conference at +300 (25%) and a third consecutive Super Bowl win at +500 (16.6%).
