Coralline has reached a major box office milestone upon its theatrical re-release. The 2009 stop-motion animated film was directed by Henry Selick and based on the novella of the same name by Neil Gaiman. It is about a young woman who discovers an alternate universe in her own home where doppelgangers of her parents live who are much more loving and attentive. The film was well received and Coralline It received critical acclaim and earned a 91% rating on Certified Fresh Rotten Tomatoes. It was also nominated for Best Animated Feature at the Academy Awards.

Per DeadlineAs of Saturday morning, the re-release for the 15th anniversary of Coralline is expected to gross a total of $11.4 million at the domestic box office in three days over the weekend and landed at number 5 in the charts among contemporary hits, including Alien: Romulus in 1st place and Deadpool and Wolverine in second place. Per ColliderThis performance brings the film’s total cumulative domestic box office to $81 million, crossing the $80 million mark. It further extends its lead as the highest-grossing domestic film from the Laika studio, and the second highest-grossing feature film, ParaNormangrossed only $56 million domestically.
