Juventus had to dig deep for a 2-2 draw against Parma on Wednesday.

As the last Serie A team with an unbeaten record, Juventus would have hoped that their clash with 17th-placed Parma wouldn’t be too problematic. But the visitors had something special up their sleeve.

Fabio Pecchia’s team came to the Allianz Stadium with a clear game plan. Parma jumped forward via captain Enrico Del Prato about three minutes in when the defender jumped over Federico Gatti and opened the scoring.

American duo Tim Weah and Weston McKennie then equalized after combining for their club. The 24-year-old hit a cross from the right and the 26-year-old headed home for the first time this season.

However, Parma showed no defeat. Seven minutes later, Simon Sohm restored the lead. The visitors took advantage of a defensive error and had time to calmly find the perfect cutback to beat goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio.

Further American intervention was needed to get Juventus back on par. This time the scorer became the scorer as Weah’s acrobatic volley from point-blank range made it 2-2.

The final 20 minutes of the clash were a thrilling duel with both teams pushing for a late winner. In truth, Parma will feel they should have taken all three points after missing two big tries thanks to top saves from Di Gregorio. Kenan Yildiz then cleared the last shot of the game off the line.

The result is Juventus’ 16th draw of the 2024 calendar year as they remain unbeaten in Serie A and sit in fourth place, seven points behind the leaders. Parma meanwhile moved up to 14th place.
